Why run for State Representative??

I have enjoyed being a member of the Athol Board of Selectmen for six years.  Never did I aspire to be any more involved in politics than on a local level, until this past winter when I realized that the towns surrounding the Quabbin Reservoir are not what they once were.  I also realized we did not have an effective voice on Beacon Hill.   Many towns, which were once bustling and full of industry have become, empty and sad with record unemployment and little hope for economic recovery.  Since the mid-80s our downtowns have gone from Bedford Falls to Pottersville.  We need to work together to get back on our feet.  The government must allow for an environment that welcomes business and enterprise.  I will work to create that environment. This will be my main focus while working at the state house.

I am a business owner.  During this difficult time, our company has grown.  We have, in fact, doubled the size of our manufacturing facility and more than doubled the number of full-time employees.  This was a team effort lead by proper management, marketing, quality of product and a capable and dedicated workforce.  I know what it takes to be a successful business owner.  We need to make this region (and the Commonwealth) business-friendly.

The region needs jobs!  The 2nd Franklin District has towns that are suffering from record home foreclosures and unemployment.  Ronald Reagan said the best social program is a job.  I wholeheartedly agree. Jobs bring hope.  Hope and pride are what this district most needs.  I will work to leverage this position to bring much needed positive attention to the 2nd Franklin District.  Economic development and jobs are what will save our communities.
